Caught in the snow and ice
Tuscaloosa Alabama. Today's snow and ice storm came early and after 5 minutes on the highway, we pulled off and got a room. The south does not salt highways as they do in Europe. Today's snowfall would not have been worth more than a 2 hour delay in Germany but it shut the Southern US down because they can't keep their bridges from freezing. Pix is clearing the car before our aborted start this morning.

Life in the Heartland
Part of our re-acclimation to life in the USA is experiencing the unique things that can be found only here:
- Whatabutger, founded in Texas in 1950 which serves great sandwiches and salads with wonderful service;
- American cookouts with delicacies such as duck and bacon poppers;
- The joys of an American "camp" with lots of food, wine, good fellowship and the chance to shoot and eat what you shoot.
We love living in the USA!

Going east through John's birthplace, Liberty, TX. Ice storm last night and major scraping job on the car and real careful driving REAL carefully as we move. East to Louisiana.

On the Road...
We have been on the road now for 9 days in our trek from Green Valley to Annandale. We have gone through Las Cruces, NM, Ft Bliss, TX, Hobbs NM, Mc Loud, OK, Fort Worth, TX and spent the long weekend with family on the lake at Athens TX. At every stop we have seen old friends and colleagues, some from 20-30 years ago.

One time ends and another begins...
The day began with our last wakeup in our little loft bedroom on rue Saint Sauveur and a final walk down rue Montorgueil and ended in our home in Arizona and begins again with the dawn over the mountains we see every morning here.

...au revoir...
Here it is, finally, 8 months after we started the Camino, going home to Arizona this morning. But it is not goodbye en anglais but rather au revoir, until we see Paris again, for surely we shall return....
And the Hegira is not yet over; there is much more to come!

A Night at the Opera
Went to the Paris Opera last night - la Clemenza de Tito by Mozart. It really is quite a building. Performance was good too although I have decided that Mozart is really not my favorite.
