Day 23; walked 18.5km to Hontanas on the high plain of Spain, the Meseta. 320 km or 200 mi today. We are both going strong but are trying to ward off colds. Sadly the warm weather stayed in Burgos and we have had another two cloudy, cold days. It has to warm up sooner or later. Pix are two views of the Way forward and back to give a sense of the immensity we are walking thru. Also a pix from the fountain at San Bol which is said to cure foot problems. Well, it was cold enough to freeze your feet off-guess you wouldn't have feet problems then.

On the Way Again...
May 6; day 22. Out from Burgos this am 13.3 km to Rios. For a short day. In the Albergue by ; had a shower then on to the neighborhood bar for a beer. Again overcast and chilly; our sunshine departed with our leaving Burgos!! Had an interesting afternoon talking to a South African lady who overdid it and has tendinitis and an Australian lady who does 30km per day as her normal speed. It takes all kinds on the Camino... Glad we are holding ourselves back to avoid injury! Albergue had an excellent dinner - really fresh salad and tortilla (aka omelet) with lots of red wine but no bread. On to sleep by 9pm. Tomorrow will be 18.5 km .

Blue skies - in Burgos!!!
OK...thanks to bestest friend ever, Linda Ward, we have appropriate words to celebrate our sunny day in Burgos !!
Time for some Irving Berlin:
Blue skies smiling at me
Nothing but blue skies do I see
Bluebirds singing a song
Nothing but bluebirds, all day long.
The pix is of John sharing these beautiful sentiments after a pitcher of sangria at a sidewalk cafe in Plaza Mayor. Some pictures ARE worth a thousand words...

Rest Day in Burgos
Sat 4 May. Sleeping in and will try to stay off our feet today in Burgos. Walked about a bit last night; it's a live town. Beautiful public buildings. Lots of people out late in bars having a good time. We are both more tired than we thought and will take the time for a little repair for feet and legs. There is still a very long way to walk before Paris next month!
Day 19 - Burgos here we come!!
Friday, Day 19. sunshine finally returned, although it is still unseasonably cold. Got to Burgos via 19.9km walk, feet and the rest of us pretty tired. Have a nice hotel for 3 nites and will head out Mon morning. Definitely need the two days rest after 288.6 km in 19 days. Pix is us on the 'last' hill with Burgos in far background. Poetry on the sign is common on the Camino.

Day 18 - still cold but pursuing intellectual matters
May 2d - Thursday. Very similar to the past week: cloudy, cold and wet for an 18.5 km walk over two mountains. No rain but pretty bone chilling damp cold as you see from the pic. Skies clearing. Have decided to get some rest in Burgos. Will arrive there Fri afternoon and stay til Monday morning giving us time to really see the city AND rest up. Maybe it will warm up a bit. Went to the archaeological dig site at Atapuerca Range which the Spanish are VERY proud of as one of the most important digs in the world. Standing in the cold for an hour while a very enthusiastic guide explained that they are not really sure about much of how prehistoric man developed, although the have lots of theories based on what, to a lawyer is very thin evidence, has confirmed that archaeology is not my thing.
